Telkom outsources internal printing & e‑Billing services to Bidvest Data

May 2015 saw the highly successful and seamless transition of Telkom's legacy bill processing services to Bidvest Data, including the transfer of staff, equipment and production services. Telkom is the dominant fixed line phone and data connectivity service provider in South Africa.

The contract with Bidvest Data forms part of Telkom's strategic drive to outsource non-core operations, primarily to improve cost efficiencies, but to leverage on leading-edge services and technologies supplied by Bidvest Data to move Telkom forward in communicating with its customers. Bidvest Data now supplies a multi-channel communication solution to Telkom including Variable Full-colour Digital Printing and Mailing, Online Document verification and sign off, Emailing and Mobile Communications.

One month into the contract award, the move to Bidvest Data has already realised Telkom efficiency benefits and cost savings;

The Telkom invoices are now personalised in colour at laser printing stage, making pre-printing and warehousing of stationery a problem of the past.

Critical verification of invoices prior to printing and emailing was previously done on cumbersome printed hard-copies, and has since been replaced with Bidvest Data's web based software platform ‘Constellation' to allow for online sign-off and verification, as well as electronic record keeping and archiving, including audit trail functions.
